Unlike Waka Flocka and a list of other artists who have been given an honorary doctorate degree in philanthropy and humanitarianism, this beauty attended Monash University, Johannesburg where she got her bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, and media studies.
Yes, introducing to some and presenting to others South African-Zimbabwean rapper, songwriter, and television personality, Nadia Nakai Kandava. (Thanks for the introduction!) Nadia Nakai Kandava (aka “Nadia Nakai” or simply “Nakai”), is a 31-year-old rapper who was born in South Africa. Although this South African-Zimbabwean mix is not well known in the States, Nakai has many accomplishments under her belt in her African native land. But that’s all about to change as she appears in the 2022 Netflix original reality show from a South African, Nigerian, Ugandan, and Tanzanian perspective called, “Young, Famous & African.”
She was nominated for “Artist of the Decade” at the 2021 South African Hip Hop Awards. This young lady is on the move!
Getting to know Nakai!
Nakai was a TV host for the first season of Channel O’s Gen-Z South Africa television show. After being signed to Family Tree Records, she left the record company to start her own label. From television appearances, winning female artist competitions, releasing top rap singles and radio charts, to hosting MTV Africa at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards best female artist award and most stylish performing artist, Nakai is a force to be reckoned with! She’s done what most people dream of at 31 years old, with an estimated net worth of $100,000 – $350,000!
I’d have to say I hadn’t heard of the artist until now. Her hit single “40 Bars” is straight to the point. The video is awesome. The lyrics are pretty raunchy, but it is rap! Check out the lyrics and video below and judge for yourselves!
