King Boss LAJ - YouTube

“Back to Sender” is a hip-hop song by Sierra Leone music artist, King Boss LAJ. It focuses on him refusing negativity by sending malicious intent ‘back to sender’ or back to the person who wishes ill on him. This song spreads positivity to the listener by reminding them to disregard intense criticism and instead keep pushing towards one’s goals and aspirations.

In his music video, Boss is seen praying in a church while singing the lyrics, “Dear God forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing. If they know what they’re doing, they will stop what they’re doing.” These lyrics are inspirational. They show that Boss does not think poorly of the people spewing negativity towards him, but instead prays so that they can change their behavior. He acknowledges that they are unaware of the hurt they are causing, because if they knew, they wouldn’t continue their behavior. This is a refreshingly positive viewpoint that is not typically seen in hip-hop lyrics. For this, I applaud King Boss LAJ.

“Back to Sender” is on an extremely groovy beat, making it an easy listen for listeners. His repetitive catchy lyrics allow listeners to remember the song and possibly think more positively in the future. It also inspires listeners to not only ignore their haters but also not to become one themselves. Whether or not this was intentional, Boss ended up creating a song that spread positivity in spite of the changes of the world around us. It is important that more songs like this one are created, even in times of hardship.

I recommend others to listen to this song as it is a great audio experience and motivating at the same time. I wish prosperity to King Boss LAJ’s future music career, and I will become a frequent listener in the future.
