AmbondronA is a band based out of Madagascar. They started in the year 2001 and still carry their predominately Malagasy music into today’s society. This band has taken their talents to many different parts of the world. Starting with many performances through islands off the Indian Ocean, to going through parts of South Africa and even France. All together they have released six albums together.

There are a total of 5 that are in the band. There is Kix, Honty, Beranto, Blanc, and Ranto. Although their name is AmbondronA, that is also the name of an island in Madagascar which they are all from. As they started to get more noticed and recognized for their musical talents, in 2012 they were chosen by the United States Embassy in Antananarivo to participate in an International Visitors’ Leadership Program. The United States wanted them to help with a theme they were working on. It was called “Protecting the Environment through Music.” After this, they also got to film a new music video at Ranomafana National Park that helped the environment and green tourism in Madagascar. Even to this day, AmbondronA is teaming with the United States Embassy in Madagascar on a project that keys in on the promotion and valorization of the rich biodiversity. As they helped the United States with a program, it gave them time to perform in places such as Denver, Colorado, and my hometown Portland, Oregon. So even though they are mainly musicians, with that came more opportunities to help not just their own careers but there own community.

They came out with a song called “Tiako Hitoetra” meaning I want to stay in Malagasy. It was written and produced in Malagasy but in the video itself it shows them in different parts of Madagascar bringing everyone together. Men, Women, and children all learn how to use instruments and enjoy the music that they are performing. This song was made to say they would never want to leave their home by showing how amazing it is to live there.
