Mahmoud Osman, “El Safeer” was inspired by the Egypt underground scene in 2015. After getting a taste of what Egypt Hip -Hop has to offer he chose to go about Egyptian Hip hop in a conscious way. He appreciated how Egyptian artist tackled topics like subconscious racism, and other social topics. In his song, Khayal. Osman raps the importance of imagination. He criticizes how people are too occupied with their daily life. He raps about how lack of imagination is decaying Egypt. He states how Egyptians never give themselves time to imagine. In the song he connects how Wgyptisn civilizations prospered was because of there imagination. In the poster above He wrote Khayal in hieroglyphics. The oldest form of communication to date which was created by his ancestors. Even the creation of hieroglyphics can be attributed to Egyptians imagination. I took this track as a motivational track to encourage people to use their minds to achieve things they never expected. Even how he went about making his song, I can see the reach to be creative. The mainstream Egyptian music scene is limited to basic pop songs that devoid of any social or political commentary. Osman dares to jump far from that box to make music that can have an impact on Egyptian society. I like how Osman decided to attack a problem that deals within. As I said earlier, underground Egyptan Hip-Hop attacks social and political issues. Although Egypt not using there imagination is a social issue, it starts with oneself. Instead of attacking the government and playing the blame game, Osman recognizes that change has to start with something as simple as being more imaginative. The concise resolution makes Osman music easy to digest. He took pride in challenging himself and Egyptians to do something that they have total control over.
