Niu Raza is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Madagascar. Only a little background information on her. She discovered that she loved music whenever she would hear it growing up. Her face always started to smile as music would play. As she started to sing independently and fell more in love with music, she took her talents to Boston to perform shows. To add a project to her resume where she met two of her closest friends who attended Emerson and Berklee College of Music. Their names are Alex Lieva and Bianca Nicdao.

She has made her music career very diverse by performing more than just songs in her language but in English. However, when she uses English in her songs, her beats are more Malagasy to add both worlds. Instead of following other genres that people have made worldwide, she made her type of genre. It is called R&B, but for her, it stands for rhythm and beats instead of rhythm and blues. The rhythm and beats are expressed in more of a Caribbean way due to her hometown. Her home means everything to her, so she uses that focus when writing and producing her songs.
In 2021, she released her first album, “Mm-Hmm,” which caught many eyes. A month later, that album won the World Act of the Year, a New England music award. That included one of her favorite songs, “Madagascar.” She said, “You make me feel like home” or “I miss my grandma’s cooking.” This song was to show her love for her birthplace. Although she performed this song in English, the beat behind it was more of an exotic or Caribbean flow, which I also loved, which is her main goal as an artist. She wants to positively impact people’s lives by using her god-given talent and repping her hometown of Madagascar.
