SilversTone Barz is ‘Doing It Major’

Nairobi-based rapper, SilversTone Barz, first stepped into the booth in 2014 and has been on the rise since. She discovered her love for hip-hop when she was seven. SilversTone’s passion and drive led her to build a professional studio in her house early in her career in hopes of improving her artistry.  Her biggest inspiration is Nicki Minaj who has influenced her style and sound. The 26-year-old’s career took off when she was featured in renowned Kenyan rapper, Khaligraph Jones’s song Khali Cartel 3 along with Bey T, Breeder LW, Rekles, and Chiwawa. Her barz got her a nomination for Best Female Artist by Kenyan entertainment company Unkut Hip Hop’s Awards in 2019. She has two albums to her name and her discography boasts more than a dozen collaborators. In her most recent one ‘Don Bother,’ she sought to redefine her sound to better reflect her rebellious and assertive nature. In a male-dominated industry, she has earned the respect of many rappers and her confidence shines through in her flow. SilversTone is dedicated to continuing to grow and refine her craft.

One of her most popular hits is ‘Doing It Major’ featuring BURUKLYN BOYZ who she has often collaborated with and is shown below. BURUKLYN BOYZ is a Kenyan drill duo of rappers Mr. Right and Ajay. In the song, the artists drop verses in both English and Sheng (Nairobi dialect of Swahili) as well as Arabic phrases. The song has a hard-hitting drill beat that reverberates in your chest. SilversTone released a music video for the song that includes underwater visuals and fight scenes to depict how she will come out on top. Her lyrics are empowering, and her style is glamorous.
