Shahyn is not new to rap. He is a pioneer of the Egyptian rap scene; before streaming platforms, he would share music through Facebook and hard drives. He even states that before Facebook, they would upload videos on the website 4shareit.1 He was inspired by old-school hip-hop artists, such as Tupac.

He became active in 2006 by joining the rap collective Y-Crew Family.2He still has a pull with the younger crowd but also knows the foundations of the tradition.
In his more recent song from January 2026, “Msh Lazm AT7B,” he critiques the push to engage in drama and create fake social media personas to sell. The title itself speaks for itself, translating to “I don’t have to be loved.” This can be connected to his history of building the OG rap scene and his understanding of different methods to stay relevant beyond social media.
Several articles touch on Egyptian rapper Abyusif and his beef due to disses that happened in 2019, but in this song, he describes himself as “cold as ice” and “metal-minded,” showing his refusal to engage in petty drama.3
In another lyric in the song, he says, “Everything you see on screen is staged.” He attacks the curated personas dominating the Egyptian rap scene. He mocks “nouveau riche” rappers who suddenly wear designer brands like Fendi after one hit song. In contrast, Shahyn, after 20 years in the game, just wears shorts and Nike sneakers. He also alludes to the fact that quick fame without anything deeper or a connection to culture is pointless.
Even though this song is a slight brag, he is still humble in understanding his difficult past “التروما” (trauma), but now, due to his hard work, he can sunbathe on a yacht.
The song has a catchy chorus with the repetition of “You’re not a big deal, all of you are outdated,” but as many commentators noted below his video, the song misses the mark for being great. The beat is generic, the lyrics are catchy but simple, and beyond the commentary mentioned above, there is nothing deeper. Shahyn’s previous work, such as his iconic “Siri” and “M3aleena,” are higher quality.
The OG Shahyn is gone, but new music for new times is out. If you listened to him for more disses, this song tells you that isn’t going to happen for a while. However, his confidence in his history is still there.
