When Phyno dropped the remix, I did think it was very dancy and apologetic. I really liked how it conveyed his confidence and cultural pride.  The energy level he gave with the Afrobeat really dialed up a good remix. The actual video featuring Brandon Boy really gave it a very club-style that everyone can enjoy.  The song was released in early 2024. The remix brought together two of Africa’s best influential musicians, blending both hip hop and Dancehall Swagger.

Personally, I love listening to Hip Hop lyrics on an Afrobeats or Dancehall beat. When I first listened to the track, I had the opening bars and felt a very fun, assertive type of tone, and the mood when the song started. I love that they both had audacity and fearless attitudes, and the song and the main chorus say it all, not to mention the lyrics were very sharp.  I think that Phyno’s delivery is immaculate with his verses, and they are very commanding, especially with his presidency has a lot of confidence with the camera, and he built his career on splitting lines that have self-assurance and straight wisdom, mixing English and a different language.

And then there’s Burna Boy, his verses of course, are very fun to listen to not to mention he adds more of a melodic and a gritty counterbalance to the first Earnest and reinforces the track’s central theme to live your own life and live off your own terms and not give a second thought to anyone who tries to put you down for that. The video itself wasn’t really my favorite type of video; I think it was a little overstimulating. However, I do think that the track’s message with the visuals is bold, as are the lyrics, and the on-screen balance of both artists commands attention for the viewer to continue watching.  The video had a last striking imagery and choreography, and a lot of vibrant symbolism. I assume it celebrates success and resilience.  But after all is said and done, I think that the Do It Remix is more than a collaboration; it gave a testament to the main artist’s evolution to blend his storytelling with mainstream appeal, not to mention Burna Boy gave it a really good club feel.
