Owezzy–Up and coming

Owezzy, an American based Liberian artist, real name Omar Bility, was born February 23rd, 2002, making him a young and up and coming rapper. Owezzy started recording his music professionally in 2019, after being discovered, because he was the junior brother of Lyee. He is currently signed to Bilikon Entertainment.

Owezzy is undoubtedly proud of his heritage and not afraid to show it. He explicitly states that he reps the 231, like in his song, King Freestyle. He raps: “Only young goon spitting harder than the older guys–but shoutout to the older guys–they paved the way for me in 231 I can’t deny the fact.” He also makes a point to tag the 231 in his Instagram captions. In an interview, Owezzy concluded, “I see myself bringing the whole of Liberia along with me, One can win alone but one can concur by bringing others along.”

In his most recent freestyle, Gro9man Freestyle, Owezzy raps about being the kind of man about his business and hustles to get the things he wants. He also includes positive messages like, “You don’t gotta do drugs, long as you hustle for grains–Homie that’s what a grona man is,” emphasizing the grind culture present in a lot of hip hop while also setting out his own goals. Similar themes appear in his newest song, Legend, where he raps about feeling himself in the hook.
