Dizzy DROS graced us with another song this February: DEPART, a two-minute and 40-second song that has grasped our attention. Once again, he draws us in with the melody of the keys, just as he did last time we heard Yasuke. It’s simple, but the flow complements the tone and flow of his rap greatly.

Now to the nitty gritty. Thanks to Google Translate, I could interpret the lyrics for DEPART. Dizzy DROS’ commitment to authenticity is evident in DEPART, just as it was in Yasuke. He is more vulnerable in this song, revealing the reality of his journey to stardom.

At the beginning of the song, he reveals that he feels lost and that he feels tired from the dreams he continues to chase. Further into his song, he admits that there are dreams he didn’t achieve and that have mentally exhausted him. This exhaustion left him feeling hopeless and unable to continue moving forward. In addition, he felt judged by others, and it left him questioning himself. He doesn’t know where to find meaning– he feels numb and doubtful. Overall, this song is a great reflection of trying to navigate these internal struggles.

The lyrics, tone, and melody complement each other well. The simplicity of the keys allows the audience to feel and hear his message about the feeling of feeling lost and searching for hope. I enjoyed this song, but wish it were longer.

Dizzy DROS has created a platform based on staying true to himself and continues to do so. As I continue to listen to his music, I feel the realness behind the meaning of his songs. He stays true to himself and opens up in various ways. I can definitely say he has earned a new fan.
