Khuli Chana – Mahamba Yedwa/Mo Tsipe

South African emcee Khuli Chana (Khulane Morule) brings different sounds and flavors to his music as well as to the hip hop scene.  He’s most well-known for his specific style of rapping called Motswako – a style that brings together elements from several different musical backgrounds. He first appeared on the South African hip hop scene in the early 90s in his hometown, Mmabatho, South Africa. At the start of his career, Chana was a main rapper in the group ‘Morfae’. Moving into his solo rap career, he released his first album “MotswakaOriginator” in 2009. In the same year of this album release, he was awarded Best Newcomer at the Channel O Music Video Awards. Chana gained much popularity when he performed as a curtain artist for Drake’s tour in South Afica. He has also opened for Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean and 2 Chains.

In his most recent single “Mahamba Yedwa/Mo Tsipe,” meaning “camper alone” Khuli Chana uses his sick producing skills (as an individual recording artist) and mixes them with his easy flowing rhymes to create one of his most popular tracks.
