On November 10, 2025, Enny released a surprise drop of a single entitled Selfridges. This track is named after the high-end London-based department store Selfridges, which Enny uses as fuel to express issues of consumerism, escapism, and ideas of success vs. struggle. This surprise drop definitely made some noise as Enny claimed to quit music to create the Peng Black Girls Cleaning Company, only a few days before the initial release. Based on her Instagram post, many of her fans not only expressed how much they’d miss her but also encouraged her to pursue whatever she believes is in alignment with what she desires, furthering Enny’s messages of agency that she portrays in her music. Taking a melodic rap approach to Selfridges, which is produced by Gotts Street Park, Enny, through 1 verse, a chorus, and post-chorus repetition, dives into the track expressing exhaustion and the desire to be elsewhere outside of her current circumstances.
In the first verse, Enny says:
Think I need a change of a location, book a plane ticket
Said I need some fucking time away and I been playing with it
Thought I had a chance, and found the one, but time has proved me wrong
Heading for the woods with mamas gun(yeah)’
’Pick up where I left off, I got Biscoff and some Oreos
Took a central line in peak of summer, Tottenham Court Road
I might go Selfridges, just to pre it and not cop a thing
I been living in a time of sin
Here, Enny names her need to find a way to shake off the burnout she feels from things not going her way. But instead of taking time away, she copes with sweets and travels to Tottenham Court Road, a crowded and busy line in London known for having a high concentration of consumer shops, and, in retrospect, represents her mental state. This leads Enny to ponder going into Selfridges to window shop without buying anything, just so she can be further distracted by the ideas of luxury, even though she is an outsider. Reflecting on herself as she’s going through these stages, she considers this her being in a time of living in sin, which shows how she understands what’s going on around her and how she may feel she isn’t doing right her values and needs to seek after other mediums.
Through the chorus, Enny talks about being in a state of losing her mind to the point of not even seeking out her higher power through prayer. Because she’s coping and disregarding her burnout, she hasn’t fully comprehended the signs of what she’s going through yet; she still desires to be financially stable without struggle. Through this, though, Enny is aware that what she is experiencing serves a purpose, as she knows if she quits, it’ll be even more challenging for her to discover how she’ll keep herself afloat.
Accompanied by her lyrically storytelling, the music video further drives her points as she works with The Face On The News as a part of the aforementioned Peng Black Girl Cleaning Services. In the video, the UK/Nigerian Female MC Enny is seen cleaning up the dirty living space owned by an older white male. In the shuffle of trash, they discover his credit card and go out to spend money on clothing, wine, a nice meal, and a car ride to the pier to revel in their glory. Then, their visit to the shore is cut short by the presence of the authorities, who are played by them, and they are handcuffed as the video flashes back to them cleaning in the flat.
With Selfridges’ single Cabin Feva, which was released in July 2025 along with a music video and explored similar themes, I think we are embarking on a new era of music from Enny, and these tracks set the tone. Enny is known for her vulnerability, expressions of agency, mindfulness, and opinions in her lyrics. With the strategic step to claim to be quitting music to get the buzz going, I believe it’s obvious that Enny is taking intentional steps to further her reach and be listened to. Whether she is very popular in the UK, I think the era she is stepping into is going to be even more expressive and honest about her shortcomings, triumphs, and whatever she is willing to do to live her life. I appreciate this track because it resonates with the time I am in, where I am going through a transition, and I desire to do great things and be great, but burnout and exhaustion are real to the point of me wanting to give up. Enny uses her medium to fuel a fire within her listeners by just being herself and talking about issues she faces in whatever ways she can.
