Emeka Must Shine is the latest album by the self-proclaimed best rapper in Africa, Blaqbonez, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule. The album was released on October 27, 2023. The album is a fusion of hip hop, alté, drill, Afrobeats, and R&B, which is not surprising since Blaqbonez has been hailed for his versatility in previous projects. According to Blaqbonez, the project was meant to highlight as well as celebrate the 27-year-old’s personal journey and show the creativity of Nigerian hip hop. He included international acts from the U.K. and the USA in the album as well as regional talent from Nigeria and Ghana (such as Black Sherif). He collaborated with hip-hop icon Ludacris on the song “CINDERELLA GIRL (WHERE YOU DEY), which was a single released ahead of the album and is the album closer. The album standout tracks are “NAIJA SHAWTY,” “DOLLERZ,” and “CINDERELLA GIRL (WHERE YOU DEY).”
