The Hip Hop African

Cassper Nyosvest is an upcoming rapper from the country of South Africa. He’s been in the game for some time now but is just currently starting to get international exposure . Starting out in a group in 2004 called childhood gangsters, the group disbanded and he joined another group called slow motion which also separated. Hemet african rapper HPP and was given some international exposure after HPP heard him perform.  He’s performed with acts like Nas, Kid Cudi, Kendrick Lamar, and Talib Kweli. his single Phumakim comes off his album titled Tsholofelo which was well received in his homeland. The track is about how he was grinding on the bottom for a while and now he’s making his way to the top, typical subject material for brand new blossoming artist who get a chance to taste international fame. The production is very good very catchy and the bridge to chorus transition is very appealing. The beat sounds like a mix between hip hop and reggae like a lot of African songs I’ve heard before and sounds very dance oriented. The song isn’t the most lyrical song you’ll hear as the style of music doesn’t center around good lyricism but that doesn’t really take much away from the track. overall i think this is a very decent song and i wouldnt be surprised if it got picked up on the east coast and played all over the place becaue i hear a lot of similar sounding songs and they’re a big hit in this part of the country.
