Listening to this artist for the first time was a culture shock for me. It was a blend of a Nigerian accent but the verbiage of an American artist like JayZ or Kendrick Lamar. To be very honest because this was so new to me in the type of music it was, it took me a while to figure out what the possible meaning of this song was but I did not dislike the song. I think the message of the song is just speaking about the reality of life. One of the lines that he said that spoke to me was “The money and the power is a toxigen”. That was a very hard lyric to me because it is so true. Too much money and power can lead to corrupting people. I think the title of the song “Breathe” really does speak to the dynamics of the song. This is one of those songs that says “Just breathe twin”. A popular phrase that is used in New York. it reminds me of that. I feel like the song is saying to not let things get to you and that life is too short for all the drama and stress. When he says “Why would I respond to all that rah rah shit” speaks to exactly that. He also in a way speaks about how great life is. He speaks about some of his experiences when he says, “I traded bars with some of the best rappers”. Life is bigger than all the problems that come up. You have one time to come to me with your problems but after that, I don’t care anymore. I love the message!!
