‘Truce’ is King Missy‘s new soon-to-be breakout hit single. It is a powerful song where she opens up about a troubling relationship and provides a narrative regarding her struggles and detailing her journey to finding strength and choosing herself in the end. “I gave all my time to an abuser”… is a stark way of starting a brand new single however, King Missy decided to hard launch the message eof at life in the song right away introducing the listener to a whirlwind relationship.

Missy can portray the ups and downs of a relationship detailing the pain that comes along with ending a relationship but also showcasing the empowerment one can gain from valuing oneself above all. King Missy orients this song as a hate letter to this partner making sure to point out all of their flaws. Some of these flaws include the partner haltering her progression, making her confused, and making things generally harder. She adds the line “Now I’m woke” showing her realization of her partner’s limitations and follows that up by saying that she had to choose and that with no guide she made up her mind. Showing that her choice to leave that relationship came from a place of courage.

Throughout the song, the listener can understand the realization that Missy had and she even describes how she was able to make it to the other side. She explains that everyone needs something to cope with so they can deal with the hurdles that life presents. She explains that her way of coping is by utilizing her outlets aka this song so not only is she healing but she is also promoting an important message regarding domestic violence and harmful relationships. She also shouts out her support system praising not only the “one above” but also those around her. She ends the song by saying that all she desires is a better life and that she is getting all the things she requires. In conclusion, this song is a female empowerment anthem encouraging women to stop settling for less and to find the courage needed to put themselves first.
