Andriamad is a French duo that was created in the French parts of Madagascar. One is a woman named Cécile and the other is a man named Kévin. They were both born in parts of Madagascar. As far as ancestry, they came from two different parts. Cécile came from a Malagasy origin while Kévin came from Tunisian and Polish origins. Their main goal in their music was to “bring people together no matter who or where they are from.” When they came together in 2017 by a mutual friend, Cécile had stopped doing music for a while before her friend convinced her to send old songs she made to Kévin as he wanted to make a duet for social media. After that happened Cécile went to go meet Kévin at his studio to start making music and that is how they started their music journey.

After a while of making music in parts of Madagascar, they decided to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. That is where 12 participants will sing their best songs to the world and judges to make a final decision on who will represent France and be given the crown.

They chose to perform their song “Alléluia” which actually meant Hallelujah in French. This song was released in 2021. A couple of months before singing it for the Eurovision contest. Their main goal was to share positive music for people all around the world. Kévin gave his input on his thoughts behind this song. He said “Alléluia” is about open-mindedness, tolerance, and positive curiosity about others. It’s about the discovery of the world and the culture on our planet.” Most of the lyrics is trying to tell people that even though we are different in ways, it doesn’t change that we were all created the same way. So in the song, they are trying to have the crowd sing Alléluia as a way to come closer together no matter who or where you’re from. Religion also played a big part in this song because not everyone prays to the same God and some don’t even believe there is one.

Sadly they did not win the contest in 2021 but how much people all around the world got to hear their music and see what they stood for meant everything to them. I loved writing about these two artists because of what they wanted their music to mean for people listening.
