It all started when 9ice dropped out of school to pursue a career in the music industry. Such a big decision is when you know music is what gives meaning to your life. He was a huge fan of Pasuma Wonder and so he started out his career in Fuji joining a group called the Mysterious Boys. They recorded just a few tracks and eventually split. In 2000, He recorded his first solo and in 2006he had a mega hit song called Ganja Man. He is best known for his single called “Gongo Aso” which was really played at the clubs in Nigeria. He does most of his music in Yoruba but in Pidgin English as well and he produced his own label called Alapomeji Records.
He has performed at shows like the Soundcity/MTN Campus Blast Tours in 2007, Mandela’s 90th Birthday in London, and his European tour which took place in Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. He has already won some awards like the Hip-hop world awards; MOBO awards, City people awards, and the MTV Base Best Hip hop Act awards. Others include the Dynamix awards best song of the year in 2008, Gbedu awards, and the Nigerian music awards. He can really compare himself to Youssou N’Dour who sings in his mother tongue.
