Real name Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, stage name, Navio was born on October 18th, 1983 in Kampala, Uganda. Navio is the son of engineer Daniel Serwano Kigozi and physician Dr. Maggie Kigozi, and he has two older siblings.
Navio began his education at the Entebbe Church Nursery for infant school and St. Andrews in Kenya for his primary/elementary school. Moving on to Aga Khan Secondary school and ISSA (International school of South Africa) to finish his secondary school education.
Navio graduated from Monash University where he decided to major in International Relations and Media Studies.
Navio as a child loved to listen to his older brother’s CDs. He would listen to MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Run-DMC, and the Beastie Boys. Chose to start his music career when he was 16 with his friends Tha mith, J-Baller, Papito, and Langman as a group called Klear Kut. Their first album was released in 2000 called “Mind, Body, and Soul” with singles that did very well such as “All I wanna know”, “Remember”, “Let’s Get it On”.
But, on to one of his more recent hits…
This is “RAHA”. This single in particular did very well as the music video has over 300,000 views as of the writing of this article. The song in particular is actually pretty solid in my opinion. I would say that I enjoyed the beat a lot and that his flow complimented the beat and vice versa. The videography is very well done. The choreography fits the beat and the lyrics as well. Especially with no features, Navio has his full lyrical and musical abilities on display as he comes up with a catchy hook and clear diction. The eye-catching culturally inclusive ideas and performers in the video also help keep that East African pride on the frontline. I think that the end of the video is my favorite as the flags and the dancing and the soccer field all mix very well together to show the Ugandan spirit.
