History
In 2011, we launched the Hip Hop African Blog. The blog started out as a platform for documenting African hip hop artists and culture in Africa and around the world. Our first writers were students in the Pan African Studies Department at California State University, Los Angeles.
The project moved to Howard University in 2015, and in 2016, we launched The Hip Hop African Podcast.
Our Team
Our writers are content creators submitting content to the site, as well as students in the Hip Hop in Africa course at Howard University and George Washington University.
We also have a small team of researchers and producers.
Contact Us
While the project does seek grant funding to maintain the site and the podcast, we do not accept money for ad space or posts. We also cannot pay for material. We do, however produce a news and events segment and we love to promote projects by African hip hop artists, as well as news and events of interest to international hip hop audiences.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns, or if you have content that you would like to submit: feedback@hiphopafrican.com.
