As I have been doing the blogs I have honestly seen that Nigerian music is no longer “HipHop” and everything is AfroBeats. It is very hard to find strictly Hip Hop songs in the current 21st century. In this song with Wizkid, they are talking about smoking weed. Rolling up a joint and just enjoying life. For example, he says I’m catching flights y’all catching feelings. This is such a carefree life that you experience when you are just high. They say that they have no fear because he got the pistol on him. The events that take place when smoking include hotboxing and just rolling up more joints. When you hot box you close all the windows in the room or car and the smoke just circulates the room. This song overall speaks about all the feelings that you either have or want to have when smoking and the feeling that comes with reaching a certain point in life. I would say that my biggest problem with hip-hop songs from 10 years ago is that there sometimes are no overall topics. The rap song will sometimes jump to like 20 different topics in one minute. I believe that this is one of those songs that do have a centered meaning or topic. One moment the song talks about catching flights, then smoking weed, all the way to being antisocial. Yes, the different categories may all have a core similarity but that was not visible within the song. Overall the the song is very catchy. I do not dislike the song but I do believe it was a hard song to understand because of all the different topics that were touched. I am not a person who would listen to this type of Hip Hop especially because of how much music has evolved over the years but I will say that this was a foundation for what
