Africa is the future of hip-hop. It’s 54 African nations. Not only are they spitting like crazy, but they’re also braiding languages. Hip-hop is going to like 3.0 when you talk about Africa. Hip-hop is there. So that’s the sustaining power if you want to pay attention to it. – Chuck D

Jamz with Joc Women’s Impact in African Hip Hop

Published by

This podcast covers topics of women in Hip Hop in both the African and American industries. This podcast highlights topics of female empowerment, how African hip hop artists culturally impact their listeners, and methods of relating genuine topics to platforms and fan bases. The purpose of this podcast was to introduce new African female artists to my friend group who listens to mainly American hip hop.  I wanted to introduce similarities and highlight distinct qualities of the genre to an audience who may be unfamiliar with African artists. Receiving a clean and genuine impression of African hip hop music and its impact solidifies the true messages of songs by artists similar to Little Simz to show their theme of women empowerment and positive self-talk is influencing a new audience daily.
