An Icon: Eva Alordiah

Elohor Eva Alordiah is a Nigerian rapper, entertainer, make-up artist, and entrepreneur.

She was born to Nigerian parents from Delta State in 13, August 1988. She got introduced into music through her mother who was invested in music during the 1970s and the 1980s. In her youth, she was part of the church’s choir. At 10, she wrote a short story in her notebook and dreamt of being an author. She cited Eminem, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Sade Adu, John Lennon, Don Williams and much more. In her secondary school, she joined the drama club. At age 16, Eva began to balance her education and business. Eva sold second-hand clothing in school in order to survive. She graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Bowen University, Nigeria.

In 2009, she released her first studio recording “I Dey Play”. The project features “Tha Suspect” and was recorded over Lil Wayne’s “A Milli” instrumental. Eva started working on her debut EP, The GIGO E.P., as an independent artist. The EP is an acronym for Garbage in Garbage Out and was released on 20 November 2011. It pays homage to her Computer Science degree. It comprises 9 songs. The most popular songs include “I Done Did It”, “Down Low”, Garbage Out (Your Fada)”, and “High”. The production of the project was handled by Sossick, Tintin and Gray Jon’Z. Many of the songs talked about the hardships that she’d overcome in life. The EP, allowed her to sign a record deal in May 2012 with Da Trybe 2.0, a label owned by elDee. She was however, dropped in November 2013.
