Dataz-review

A Tanzanian rapper by the name of Dataz who shares a similar sound with Ghanaian rapper Tinny. What I found really impressive about her is the fact that she is one of the few female rappers in a predominantly male genre. The fact that she has the enough courage to be a female rapper in a genre that subjugates woman shows that she wants to defy the norms which is very important.  Her song ‘Wajua’ featuring Squeezer reminds me of the same sound in  hip hop that was so prominent  back in the late 90s/early 2000s. ‘Wajua’ is a catchy song that I could see playing at a house party or a club that solely plays old school music. The song ‘ Mume Wa Mtu’ has the similar sound but the only thing that I disliked about the song was the singer who was in it by name of Joan. Her voice was so high pitched that I could not get into the song as much as I would have liked to. Overall, Dataz music brings back memories of the music that basically paved the way for hip hop today. I recommend her music to those who love the music of the 90s/2000s because her music sounds identical to it.
