State of Zimbabwean Hip Hop

“There seems to exist a visible effort on the part of a lot of current MC’s to experiment in order to redefine and own a sound that could be recognised as Zimbabwean Hip hop.” stated by the author in this article that I found on publicenemyafrica.com, titled Zimbabwean Hip-Hop. The article did an excellent job of introducing me to the hip hop scene in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwean hip hop emerged to significance in the early 1990s, and the majority of the acts are heavily influenced by American East Coast hip ho, but there are few acts that are now trying to move away from American stereotype and reinvent themselves.  Also in the article, the writer listed and covered a number of well known hip hop artists in Zimbabwean, such as Metaphysic, Carlprit, Mizchif, and Maskiri.
